Salt & Plow Time
Rock salt per event and per season for a lot or a route, and plow hours per push.
Enter the lot area or route lane-miles to see results.
Assumptions
- Rates are for bulk rock salt on pavement near 20–30°F. Colder pavement needs more or a treated product; pre-wetting or brine cuts rock salt 20–30%.
- Plow rates assume light accumulation and open lots. Islands, curbs and cars cut it roughly in half.
Common questions
How much salt per acre for a parking lot?
Common bid specs run 300–800 lb of rock salt per acre per application, with 500 a fair planning number. A one-acre lot at 500 lb is a quarter ton per event.
