Common questions

How many tons of gravel in a cubic yard?

About 1.35 tons for loose gravel, 1.4 for crushed stone, and 1.5–1.6 for dense-grade or crusher run, compacted.

How much gravel do I need for a driveway?

Length × width × depth (in feet) ÷ 27 = cubic yards; multiply by 1.4 for tons. A 12 × 100 ft driveway at 6 in deep needs about 22 CY, or 31 tons.

Planning numbers. Confirm quantities with your supplier, spec and local conditions before ordering.
